Unsolicited Scripts | Short Film Fund
UNSOLICITED SCRIPTS SHORT FILM FUND initiative supports the production of a short film screenplay (20 pages max) or the completion of a short film (under 20 minutes) with a grant of up to £7,000 (approx $9,500), in-kind post-production services, festival strategy, production insurance, tax credit support, and career advice. Filmmakers can apply without a producer – we can help you find one if your project is selected. Our goal is to create a funding opportunity where story is king. There are no boxes to tick apart from writing a great story that is viable for production. We are not afraid of being the first entity to provide funding for your project and become the first stepping stone for you to be able to raise further financing, if required. • Awards • A cash grant of up to £7,000 (approx. $9,500*) offered by Unsolicited Scripts. Insurance: a production insurance package by Tysers Live . Colour grading by colourist Giulia Cavina from Goldcrest. Sound post by Daniel Bodsworth from Lipsync. A Festival Strategy package by world-leading festival strategist Film Festival Doctor . DCP creation: offered by Unsolicited Scripts. One-to-one Career Advice Meeting for the writer and director of the screenplay with Libby Gervais, Agent Assistant at Casarotto & Ramsay Associates . UK Film Tax Credit Support : the finalist will be briefed on how to make the most out of the Uk Film Tax Credit scheme, which allows you to get up to 42% of your production budget back. If the winning project is submitted by a writer based in the UK, Unsolicited Scripts can help find a producer, director, and crew.

Sofia Coppola Wants to Mentor and Fund Your Next Short Film (Here’s How to Apply) If you’ve ever dreamed of having the director of Lost in Translation and Priscilla, now is your chance. Sofia Coppola has officially teamed up with the nonprofit film fund Decentralized Pictures (DCP) to launch a new short film award that offers more than just money. You can apply to get both cash and mentorship, and we think this is a fantastic opportunity. Here is everything you need to know about the Sofia Coppola Short Film Award and how you can get your project in front of her. The Prize: More Than Just $20,000 The top prize is a $20,000 production grant to help you get your short film off the ground. But the real value here is the mentorship. The winner will receive direct guidance from Sofia Coppola herself. Additionally, the winning film will be guaranteed distribution on DCP+, the organization’s streaming platform designed specifically for independent creators. What is Decentralized Pictures? If you haven't heard of DCP, they are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit co-founded by Roman Coppola and members of the American Zoetrope family. Their mission is to democratize film financing. DCP uses a community-driven, blockchain-based platform. Here’s how it works: How to Enter Ready to get to work? Here are the basics: Now, go win that funding and mentorship! NEXT UP 1. Submit Your Pitch: You upload your script or project proposal to the DCP platform. 2. Community Voting: The DCP community (other filmmakers and film fans) reviews and votes on the submissions. 3. The Finalists: The highest-rated projects move on to the final round, where the "mentor" (in this case, Sofia Coppola ) makes the ultimate selection. Submission Fee: $25 Short Video: A short sample representing the filmmaker’s unique voice (scene, visual excerpt, or proof of concept, etc.) Project Description: One-page document describing the film the applicant wishes to produce (synopsis, visual references, etc.) Where to Apply: Head over to the Decentralized Pictures website to create an account. Black Film Space | Proof of Concept Short Film Grant
We are elated to announce that @blackfilmspace is partnering again with @cliverd_ for another Proof of Concept Short Film Grant. Our grant will award $8,000 to one filmmaker creating a short (under 20 minutes/pages) designed as a teaser for a feature film. Projects must meaningfully incorporate an element of nature—whether as a setting, character, theme, or narrative force. In addition to the grant, the selected filmmaker will have the option to shoot at a private estate in Jamaica, provided by cliveRd. Submissions open April 21 at 12PM ET and close May 31 at 11:59PM ET. $35 submission fee. Free for Black Film Space members.
